Training and Volunteering

Somer Valley FM is a volunteer-based organisation. This station welcomes anyone in our community. There are a number of ways to get involved from being a DJ or presenter to contributing features and knowledge to our programmes. We would like to hear from anyone who has career experience, an area of expertise, a developed interest or even just a wacky hobby. It is not all about being on a microphone here and we welcome those interested in behind the scenes activities such as technical support, marketing, administration and reception.

We offer training for all volunteers who are interested in participating in our programmes. Please contact the station manager who will structure your training according to what you would like to do.

Somer Valley is also now offering an NCFE Accredited Course in Radio Production skills. For more information about this please contact our Training Coordinator, Mike Walker, at the station.

We are offering all training free of charge.
