Ray has won broadcasting awards for his speciality country music programmes and has a keen interest in music from Rock N Roll to Blues.

Ray says,"I'm looking forward to bringing to Somer Valley FM the opportunity for listeners to hear different genres of music that isn't available through mainstream radio, and to bring back some musical memories."

The Golden Oldie Show from 1pm on Thursdays will be delivering a mix of music nostalgia, a local gig guide, what's on in and around the area and an overview of the local news stories of the day.

Ray was born and brought up in Birmingham and has had a musical interest throughout his life, inherited form his father who was a drummer in his younger years with many big bands.

At the age of 16, on leaving full time education began working in the print industry and commuting twice weekly to London to undertake pre production of Radio content for offshore Radio broadcasters.

Moving to Timsbury in the early 70's, he joined Bath Hospital Radio in 1989 and is Chairman of this organisation, which broadcasts to the RUH and Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic diseases in Bath.
